FAQ's

Where is The Lodge at Sun Ranch located?
We are located in the upper Madison River Valley, approximately 90 minutes south of Bozeman, and 40 minutes north of West Yellowstone. The entrance to the Sun Ranch is located between mile markers 20 and 21 on Highway 287 in Cameron, Montana. Elevation of the Lodge is just under 6500 feet.

What are the closest airports?
Gallatin Field in Bozeman/Belgrade (BZN) is the nearest major airport, 90 minutes from Papoose Creek Lodge. Service is provided by Northwest, Delta, United, Alaska Air, SkyWest, United Express, and Horizon airlines. West Yellowstone is open seasonally (between June 1-September 30) and is serviced by SkyWest. For guests arriving by private jet, the Ennis/Big Sky airport is located only 25 minutes north of the Lodge.

How do I get from the airport to the Lodge?
Airport transfers to and from the Lodge are included in your stay, although many guests choose to rent cars upon arrival. Should you wish to have us provide transportation, to avoid wildlife on the roads we transport guest during daylight hours—between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Amenities?
Luxury accommodations; gourmet breakfast, lunch, and dinner; 24-hour concierge services; and use of all Lodge facilities are included in your stay.

What incidentals aren’t included in my stay?
Your package may include specific activities, but you are always free to add on activities if the mood strikes. Alcoholic beverages are not included. If you plan to fish, you will need to purchase fishing and conservation licenses as well as flies. Gratuities for your fishing guide, and gift shop items are also not included in your package.

Can we bring our children?
We welcome children 12 years old and older at the Lodge. For families with younger children we encourage you to speak to our staff about an exclusive Lodge buyout.

Are pets allowed?
Due to the horses and other animals on the ranch and around the Lodge, no guest pets are allowed.

Do you permit smoking?
Smoking is not permitted in the Lodge or in any public areas. You are free to smoke outside your cabin or on your private deck.

What should I pack for my visit?
We’ll send you a packing list prior to your arrival, or you can review our recommendations list here.

What if I don’t have fly fishing gear?
If you plan on fishing and don’t have your own gear, let us know before you arrive. We have waders, boots, rods and reels available.

Is there cell service? How can I be reached?
Because of the mountain ranges, cell service is spotty in the area. Phones are available in the Lodge and the business center if you need to make a call. If your family or office needs to reach you, they should call the Lodge at 888-674-3030. Our office is staffed daily from 7:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. MST/MDT. We will get a message to you as quickly as possible. Our fax number is 406-682-3031.

What is the weather like?
Temperatures in the Madison valley during our season range from 60-90°F(15-32°C) during the day, and can get down to the 40°F/4°C at night. Layered clothing is best, as the weather can be unpredictable.
